What do you like/dislike about your hair?

En News

I have found that the first relationship we have is with ourselves…..which make sense that some of us have such complicated relationships with our hair. I often hear women say that they never learned to do their hair as they grew up in an environment where the fate of their hair was left in the hands of their mothers/grandmothers/aunts/etc. and due to their hair being described as “difficult”, perms/relaxers were sought to make maintenance easier. When I look back, it was not until I was done with the fad products, experienced spending money (I did not have) trying to stay in a stylists chair, and was forced to begin caring for my hair myself that I really fell in LOVE with my hair!

It was not until recently that a huge focus and appreciation for our hair has been brought to the forefront, which can be seen in movies (Nappily Ever After), songs (I Am Not My Hair by India Arie), literature (Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry), and the newfound interest of going natural! With hair being such a huge part of our identities, experiencing hair loss can be a devastating blow to us when we experience it BUT with conversation and the right products, a positive aspect can be found.

As a lover of all things hair, it is disheartening to see that when asked so many people respond so negatively about the very thing that their crown sits upon! Whether the situation manifest due to hormonal change, inherited genes, vitamin deficiency, etc. our hair is our own and we must learn what our hair needs and protect it. Therefore, I challenge you all to not focus so heavily on what it is that you do not like about your hair but identify things that you do like. In addition, to the good let us also accept the challenging, let us identify and address those specific things so we can get you to a place where you can see yourself as I see you! BEAUTIFUL :)

Whether it be color, texture, length, etc. many complaints of hair often manifest in a MISUNDERSTANDING of your specific type of hair and the things your hair needs to thrive. I created my line to answer the crucial question of…..what products can I use on my hair that are healthy and will promote growth!

What is “good hair”…your hair!
