It was literally the SLAP heard around the world…..but let’s talk about it:
It was May of 2018 when Jada Pinkett Smith discussed being diagnosed with alopecia on the Red Table Talk which she has been very open about discussing her personal journey with the world. While having been diagnosed myself along with many of you, I am curious to know what your thoughts are on what transpired at the 2022 Oscars!
Jada’s alopecia diagnosis was jokingly brought up at the 2022 Oscars by comedian Chris Rock and…..not everyone found it funny. Chris Rock joked that he was “excited to see her in the next G.I. Jane sequel” seeming referencing her shaved/low cut hairstyle. While Pinkett Smith was seen rolling her eyes, her husband Will Smith was less than amused and casually walked up on stage and SLAPPED Chris Rock in the face. After returning to his seat, he responded to Rock, “Leave my wife’s name out of your f—king mouth.”
Now while it was aired for all to see and many have seen….I am curious to know how you all feel about what happened?
While many of us suffer from hair and scalp issues ultimately deal with them in our own ways, imagine how we would feel if we became the butt of the joke on a condition that we have no control over:/

April 25, 2022 at 02:56 PMLosing your hair to a autoimmune disease, it’s really hard on a lot of people. It’s a sensitive subject and i don’t know what was in Chris’s heart when he made that joke about Jada. We know that Chris is a comedian, but i don’t think we should get a good laugh at the expensive of someone’s feelings. Will, lost control of his emotions which lead to the assault on Chris. Know this, if you don’t control your emotions they will control you and depending on the severity of the situation, when it’s all over, you will ask yourself, why did i do that. The end results could be bad for you!

April 25, 2022 at 02:56 PMI was watching, was completely shocked and unsure if it all was a joke, then felt completely disappointed in Will. I get that Jada may still feel devastated about her hair loss, but this was an over-reaction. A very public and embarrassing over reaction at a classy event people campaign to attend each year. Calm and collected Will Smith should have remembered who he was, where he was, who was watching, and the possible consequences to himself and his family. Every step he took towards that stage was a chance to rethink, reset, return. He ruined that night of celebration for every winner who came after AND his own.
I’m actually impressed with Jada and other ladies with alopecia who can rock that bald look. I’ve been covering my patchiness with wigs for years but I never give up hope that my once full head of hair will return.

April 25, 2022 at 02:56 PMVery distasteful for Chris Rock to make a joke like that, imo. Black women and hair is a very touchy topic even if there’s no alopecia. Which I also suffer with and have recently shaved my head. It’s like damned if we do and damned if we don’t. They have a problem with us wearing weaves and wigs and our own hair. Can we catch a break or what? We are the only race of women that are constantly criticized for the choices we make and oftentimes our hair. I’m sad that Will didn’t show restraint but he also have been dealing with a lot here lately and I believe he snapped once he saw his wife holding back tears for being make fun of for something that she was very open and honest about. Everyone makes mistakes!

Could and average person did what he have done nope and get away with it. With all the money they have why Jada Pinkett didn’t look you up you are the best just saying Hollyweird.
